The July/August issue of Creative Machine Embroidery has just hit newsstands, and we’re so excited to share all the fun stuff inside with you! We really dug into the best parts of summer to bring you some great projects. Read on for a rundown of our favorites.

The cover project is an adorable pair of slippers featuring the Pug face from our new Puppy Love Collection. Our designer, Genevieve, did an amazing job with this collection. Not only are the faces super cute, but she managed to put something in the eyes that really encapsulates the love of man’s best friend. The slippers themselves were an inspired idea by our senior editor, Amanda. They’re very lightweight, so they’re perfect for the summer, or add faux fur to the inside for cooler months (be sure to match your dog to the fur!). Download the pug design for free from cmemag.com/freebies until August 31, 2018, and find the whole collection at shopsewitall.com.

Cheering sectionWe were blown away when we opened a package from contributor Colleen Bell and found this amazing stadium seat. It’s quite an intricate process to make, but her instructions are clear and thorough to make it as easy as possible. And who doesn’t love a cushy seat when at a sporting event, concert, or outdoor play where the seats may not have the back support we’d like for that much sitting? Colleen used a volleyball design, but it’s easy to switch out for your favorite team, or in my case, something theatrical to use at our local Shakespeare Festival.

Porch PrettiesThis set of patio pillows is really neat — there’s a beginner, intermediate and advanced pillow, each of which teaches software skills, tips and tricks. Each pillow builds on the one before, so it’s almost like a mini embroidery software class. You’ll also learn some valuable techniques for sewing on outdoor fabric which can be applied to any relevant décor items.

toothbrush roll

Our in-the-hoop project for this issue is a handy toothbrush roll. Perfect for travel, it has pockets to tuck your dental hygiene supplies into, then roll it up and tie with the attached ribbons. Of course, it’s not just for your teeth — fill the pockets with whatever travel toiletries you need. It would even work as a jewelry roll! Download the project for free until August 31, 2018, at cmemag.com/freebies.

That's Incredible Quilt

We’re all looking forward to the release of Disney • Pixar’s Incredibles 2. (Only two more days! Woo!) We’re celebrating with a fun Incredible-inspired quilt. It’s oversized throw sized, and it’s built around a panel featuring our favorite super-powered family. Friendship star blocks and corner blocks inspired by the Incredibles logo complete the design. Then it’s embroidered with word-bursts reminiscent of comic book illustrations like “pow,” “zip” and “blam!” Find the pattern at cmemag.com/freebies until August 30, 2018. Find the collection and the pattern after the expiration at shopsewitall.com.

Blam

There’s plenty more summery fun to find in this issue, including activity-themed duffle bags, sport ball coasters, a striking trapunto wall hanging with a celebratory theme, an allover embroidered dress with a custom freestanding lace yoke and more. Find the issue on newsstands or in shopsewitall.com.
