Self-adhesive popup tabs allow the elements inside
this colorful card to collapse with ease when the project is closed.
The plastic squares are almost invisible, so the attached motif
appears to float above the paper. Use more than one popup block
for larger motifs or groups of designs.

Construction
Stitch the motifs on handmade paper or card stock and trim close
to the embroidery.
Fold three popup tabs into cubes and adhere them to the card
at the fold. Position the embroidery and press onto the blocks’
adhesive.
Cut short lengths of floral wire for the two floating designs.
Curl each end into a spiral to create a broader surface for gluing.
Attach
one end of a wire to an adhesive dot on the embroidery wrong side
(A). Cover the coiled wire with another adhesive
dot and a small punched circle for a neat finish. Repeat to attach
the second wire to the remaining embroidery.
Glue the other end of each wire to the wrong side of the main
motif, using adhesive dots as before. Check to be sure the floating
designs are completely covered in the closed card and shorten
the wires if necessary before gluing.
Still another type of popup rises from an interior crease. Add
tabs to two adjacent sides of the popup motif, or use another
clever popup base.
