Embroidery is one medium that lends itself well to a host of other craft techniques. Have you knit or sewn something? Embroider it! Embroider a swatch and frame it or modge podge it onto something else. Quilting and machine embroidery go hand in hand. Add beads, crystals or paint to embroidery designs. The options are endless.

Whatever medium you find yourself dabbling in, we can help. Visit interweavestore.com for beading, crochet, jewelry, knitting, quilting, needlework, weaving, spinning and mixed media resources. From books to magazines to kits and everything in between, you’re sure to find what you need.

Plus, be sure to get the skirt pattern from sewnews.com and add embroidery to one of the skirt embellishment ideas in the Feb/March 2015 Sew News.

Or add crystals to the embroidered zipper bracelets from CME March/April. (Get a free design here until April 30!)

Let your creativity and imagination run wild. Find inspiration hot off the runway, like this Elie Saab dress.

Elie Saab
Large-scale embroidery on sheer fabric embellished with crystals.

I’d never in a million years make a dress like this (because where would I wear it?) but the beautiful, ethereal fabrics, embroidery designs and embellishment placement are so inspiring. I’ve dreamt up six different embroidered and embellished projects already.

What techniques do you combine with your embroidery?
