I attended the Craft & Hobby Association’s winter show in Anaheim, CA this past January. I met some great people, learned about new products releasing this year, and had an overall great time.
Here are some highlights:
Deborah Norville was the keynote speaker. She is FABULOUS. She has a new yarn line for Premier yarns that debuted at CHA. Her speech was one of the best I’ve ever heard. She explained how she came to be the great success that she is all because she knew how to sew. She entered beauty pageants as a teenager to make money for college. And what was her talent you ask? Sewing. She brought in garments that she made and presented them as her talent during these beauty pageants. How fabulous is that? And she kept winning. That’s how she came to be on television, and the story goes on.
Deborah was really an inspiration to those of us attending. She went on to explain how a positive attitude can lift your spirits in rough times…and how important it is, especially with the current economic crisis, to say thank you to everyone every day.
I jumped at the chance to meet Deborah and ask her about her sewing skills. It turns out that she’s always wanted to try machine embroidery. So of course I asked if she’d be willing to write for CME. She said yes! I’ll be sure to keep you informed of when her article will be published. I can’t wait!
Yes, Paris Hilton is coming out with a line of scrapbooking products, embellishment kits, and many more glittery dodads to aid in your creative endeavors…well, maybe not YOUR creative endeavors per say…but maybe those of your nieces, cousins, daughters (?), etc. She had a HUGE crowd waiting for her arrival. Take a look:
I did manage to get a good shot of her, which is what everyone wanted. Thankfully I was in her booth with the press and not out in the crowd. But I did get a few armpits thrown into my face! It was worth it for this “money” shot:
Highlight #3: Vanna White
Here is Vanna strutting her stuff at the annual Lion Brand fashion show. Vanna has a line of yarn too!
Well, there’s my recap of winter CHA. I’ll bring you more highlights later! Stay tuned…
