Pumpkins, Pumpkins and More Pumpkins!
A sure sign of fall is a great big pumpkin, which is why we’ve included a number of pumpkin projects in this issue. I love everything pumpkin: pumpkin-laced food, pumpkin-tinted walls, pumpkin-colored silk…call it pumpkin and I’ve got to have it. There’s just something about the aroma and color of a pumpkin that changes your spirit and helps you accept the onslaught of changing leaves and crisper air.
The bevy of pumpkin embroidery designs is vast, so we’ve tried to make it a little easier by giving you a free 3-D pumpkin design. It’s a great project to make for a centerpiece or mantel decoration. Or put it on a table that can be seen from the front door to welcome trick-or-treaters. Turn to page 38 for the download details.
There are also pumpkin-shaped pillows on page 60. They’re made from boiled wool and are striking when added to a comfy couch or nestled by the fireplace. Once you create your cozy setting, you’ll be relaxed and ready for the upcoming holidays, which always seem to arrive earlier and earlier each year.
Relaxing at the embroidery machine is difficult to do, especially if the machine tension is off, causing looped stitches or misaligned designs. When it comes to tension troubleshooting, our “Basic Training” columnist, Kay Hickman, knows her stuff. Turn to page 14 for her expert tips and tricks.
Have a great time welcoming fall with this issue as your guide. And as always, send us your feedback at firstname.lastname@example.org.
